To register for a NYC chess tournament, please follow the registration link, but also make sure you register to become a member of the U.S. Chess Federation by going to their site at www.uschess.org

We encourage all chess students to take advantage of this opportunity to play rated chess games, as the rating will become an important measure of how you or your child is improving at chess.

Chess Max Academy is known for having top-rated NYC Chess Tournaments – we host, organize, and support NYC “chess tournaments near me” for kids and adults.

We have an ongoing weekend tournament every other Sunday at our Upper West Side location, which features multiple sections for beginners attending Elementary school and experienced players alike, with all players getting a prize!

Our NYC chess tournaments for beginners allow them to get their first exciting moments winning an official chess game and to get an official United States Chess Federation rating.

We currently offer ‘chess tournaments near me’ in New York and Connecticut locations, where we also offer Chess Classes for Kids. Our monthly Rapid chess tournament at our Greenwich, CT location allows players to compete with higher rated players on even terms, thanks to the Handicap system which we have in place.

Chess Tournament play is especially helpful for Chess Max Academy students, as our chess coaches who tend the playing rooms during the games, can offer feedback to the parents and the students about how they played and where they need to improve. That makes our tournaments the best place to play chess in NYC.

Our group chess lessons teach kids the skills needed to compete in tournaments by teaching them chess notation and how to use the clock.

To improve at chess tournament play, we recommend starting to study with a Private Tutor. Private chess coaches can concentrate on your individual opening preparation and special tricks of the trade needed to know during official tournament play. That can help you improve your performance at your next tournament quite significantly. The price of a private chess lesson at our Academy varies from $90/hour for online Master chess coaches to $250/hour with our elite Grandmaster coaches. This cost of chess includes access to our mobile app with individual homework for our students, our coaches files with opening preparation, as needed, as well as the advice of the Founder of Chess Max Academy, Grandmaster Max Dlugy.
